Embark the Pont-Aven ferry at Portsmouth on Friday evening to spend Saturday exploring the historic port of Saint Malo. Pont-Aven is the largest cruise ferry in Brittany Ferries’ fleet, carrying just over two thousand passengers. It’s also their flagship cruise ferry to France and Spain, with a pool and leisure area, wrap around promenade, and cocktail piano bar. On Saturday morning, have a buffet breakfast on board before spending the day in the ancient walled city of Saint Malo, where bars, shops, and restaurants abound on the cobbled streets. Visit the Chateau de St-Malo, home to the city’s museum, and immerse yourself in history. Alternatively, enjoy the bracing sea air as you stroll along one of several sandy beaches in the area, and then warm up with a hot drink in a cosy café.
