The SpaceTourer lives up to its name by providing plenty of passenger and cargo room. This flexible van-derived MPV is also surprisingly cost-effective to run and comes in Feel and Business trim levels.
There are three wheelbases to select from, ranging in length from 4.6 metres to 5.3 metres.
Practical yet easy on the eye, the Space Tourer features 16-inch alloy wheels and dark-tinted rear windows.
Side sliding doors provide easy access for back-seat passengers, and can be opened hands-free by waggling a foot under the corner of the rear bumper.
Standard illumination includes LED daytime running lights and cornering-assist (and chrome-trimmed) front fog lamps.
The SpaceTourer can seat up to nine people, providing lots of leg room for each occupant. A panoramic windscreen affords an excellent view of the road, and the driver further benefits from a height-adjustable seat and a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel.
Other standard features include power-assisted steering, cruise control with speed limiter, front and rear power-operated windows (one-touch and anti-pinch on the driver’s side), air-conditioning and a 12-volt power point. Whenever needed, all rear seats can be folded and even removed, creating a truly flexible environment.
As much as 2,932 litres of cargo space can be achieved in the largest (XL) model.
Four diesel engine options are available for the SpaceTourer, including a 115bhp unit. This is paired with six-speed manual transmission and returns as much as 54.3mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 137g/km.
The highest specification includes a BlueHDi 180bhp engine, which still manages to return up to 48.7mpg
Audio entertainment is provided by an RDS radio and an MP3-compatible CD player, both of which can be operated using steering wheel-mounted controls. Bluetooth and USB connectivity is included too. Awarded a five-star rating by Euro NCAP, the SpaceTourer’s driver aids includes Electronic Stability Programme, Anti-lock Braking System, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and rear parking sensors. Among the vehicle’s passive safety features are front seatbelt pre-tensioners and load-limiters, seatbelt reminders, ISOFIX mountings and a child-lock indicator.
