The Citroën Berlingo is a flexible van that offers a car-like driving experience and comes in a number of body styles, including Panel Van (L1 and L2) and crew Van (L2) iterations. The vehicle is available in several trim levels too, ranging from X to top-of-the-range Enterprise.
The Berlingo’s front fascia is designed to offer added protection with a front-bumper reinforcement bar and a laminated windscreen. At the vehicle’s rear, asymmetrical doors open 180 degrees, ensuring that loading is as unencumbered as possible.
The van also features tinted windows, adjustable door mirrors and two-speed intermittent windscreen wipers.
The Berlingo, in standard form, comes as a two-seat cab, while Crew Van models provide room for up to five people. The front compartment is carpeted and features plenty of cubby spaces, including bottle-holders, and a 12-volt power point. The cab is separated from the vehicle’s load bay by a ladder-frame bulkhead. L1 Panel Van models provide 3,300 litres of load capacity (3,700 litres with the passenger seat folded), while larger models, naturally, offer even greater cargo volume.
A 1.6-litre 95bhp petrol engine comes as standard and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. This produces 152Nm of torque, up to 43.5mpg and a 151g/km CO2 emission figure. A 1.6-litre 98bhp diesel unit is also available, paired with six-speed automatic transmission. This returns as much as 67.3mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 111g/km.
An RDS radio, an MP3-compatible CD player and satellite navigation are standard inclusions. Safety features include Electronic Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking System,
Hill-start Assist, a driver’s airbag and seatbelt pre-tensioners and force-limiters. The vehicle also features remote central locking.
