The all new KIA Niro had its world premiere at the Chicago Motor Show in February 2016, and it’s been eagerly awaited ever since. On sale now, this brand new hybrid comes in four derivatives, and it has a lot to show off. Here, it makes its Snows debut…
The KIA Niro coveys a striking silhouette. Sculpted for the modern world, KIA’s all new hybrid utility vehicle (HUV) is designed with sophistication. Described as a “crossover” by Auto Express, it features 16” or 18” alloy wheels and an aerodynamic body which will make it seem like you can glide through traffic. KIA’s signature grille makes the Niro recognisable as the latest model to join this superior brand’s repertoire, whilst contours on the body provide real road presence.
It’s practical too, with a large boot and spacious interior. The seats have increased pad density, so you and your passengers will remain comfortable no matter how long the journey. What’s more, elevated seating makes it easier to view the outside world, providing a commanding view of the road ahead. In the “3” specification, a heated steering wheel and front seats put the cherry on the cake.
Your new KIA Niro’s hybrid powertrain is unique, having been specifically designed for this model. It incorporates a 1.6 litre GDI engine with 6 speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Combined with an almost silent lithium ion polymer battery which allows the Niro to travel up to three miles on electric power alone, at speeds of up to 70mph, this results in an estimated 50mpg and from just 88g/km CO2, making it better for you and the environment. Simultaneously, it provides a combined power of 146hp. Even better, its design allows great manoeuvrability, with the sports aesthetic removing some of the bulkiness associated with other hybrids. Your new Niro combines the best of both worlds to create a comfortable yet agile drive.
Of course, the new Niro wouldn’t be complete without the latest technologies on the market. Innovative safety features such as Lane Departure Warning, Advanced Smart Cruise Control, and Autonomous Emergency Braking (all standard on the “First Edition” model) work to make your driving experience as protected as possible. Regenerative braking recovers energy to save you power, allowing you to travel even greater distances. Plus, the Niro’s hybridity inspires a navigation system which informs the hybrid drivetrain of where the vehicle is headed, in order to maximise efficiency. Predictive Energy Control is also the first system in the industry to monitor and make amendments for both ascending and descending scenarios.
For entertainment, use Android Auto to connect to your smartphone and access a range of features. There’s a crystal clear 7” touch screen display (8” in the “3” specification), making it easier than ever to stay connected. And with a DAB radio, USB and AUX ports, and a wireless phone charger in the higher spec models, you can’t go wrong. Your brand new Niro is designed using superior technology throughout, whether under the bonnet or at your fingertips.
