Our Hybrid History

Toyota began developing hybrid cars in 1997 and since then the brand has grown in knowledge, research and quality hybrid engineering, making it the renowned brand that we know and love today. Snows Toyota are proud to represent such a respectable marque and to provide a fantastic range of electric and hybrid vehicles that help keep our roads cleaner every mile of every journey.

The first mass-produced hybrid vehicle that Toyota released was the Toyota Prius, a true favourite among many drivers who came to appreciate the brilliance in its technology and design. This was just the first step to what has become an expertise for the brand. Over the past 20 years, Toyota have continued to develop and reach new limits in electric vehicle engineering with millions of hybrid models sold each year. As a result of this, we can now see around 10 million Toyota hybrid drivers on the road and counting! With the 2040 petrol and diesel ban, Toyota Hybrid power has never been so significant...

How do we compare?

An average fuel efficiency figure for all UK cars is considered to be around 37.84 mpg (combined mpg). The whole of the Toyota hybrid and electric range are well above this average efficiency figure, as well as having refined performances, quality comfort and a touch of style.

When compared to petrol and diesel cars, it's an easy win for hybrid and electric cars. Just some of the benefits involve being cleaner, more fuel efficient, low tax bills and congestion charges, zero emissions when using electric and minimal noise pollution.

In the battle between who does hybrid best, Toyota are never shy from the top of the list. For example, Auto Express valued the Toyota Prius higher than hybrid models like the Volvo XC90, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Hyundai Ioniq, Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid, BMW 330e, the Volkswagen Passat and many more.
