How does the Motability Scheme work?

With Motability, you can exchange your eligible allowance for the use of a brand new car!

The Motability Scheme is a government-funded initiative that helps motorists with a disability or mental health condition gain access to a range of quality new cars. You don't even have to do any driving as friends, family or carers can be insured to drive the car for you. Snows is a proud member of the scheme, with many dealerships offering the same services as Motability experts to assist you in the purchase of your new vehicle.

With the Motability Scheme you can simply exchange all, or part of your mobility allowance, to lease a brand new car or wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV). Today over 600,000 customers up and down the country enjoy the options and independence that Motability brings. Open the door to freedom today.

In exchange for part – or all – of your monthly allowance, you can lease a new car on a contract hire basis over a three-year period. At the end of this time, you will be entitled to exchange your vehicle for a newer model.

Every lease is all inclusive, which means a brand new car and all of the following is included in the price you pay:

Insurance for up to three named drivers
Servicing, maintenance & breakdown cover
Annual road tax
Windscreen repairs or a replacement
Replacement tyres
20,000 mileage allowance per year of your lease
Vehicle adaptations (many at no extra cost)

The team at your nearest dealer will support you every step of the way. They can advise on the most suitable car, guide you through the application process and take delivery of the vehicle when you're ready to collect it.

There are models offered with Nil Advance Payment or at a competitively low price, so no matter which size or type of vehicle you need there will be a solution within your budget. Please note that the Advance Payment does not act as a deposit and is not refundable.

Many of the vehicles available can be specially adapted to suit your personal requirements. For example, a model with a larger cabin space may be adapted to securely accommodate a wheelchair. Many adaptations can be done at no additional cost and these modifications can be discussed with a specialist before you make your application. You may also be eligible for extra financial aid to have more extensive changes made.
